El Corbalán Natural Reserve

El Corbalán Nature Reserve was created in 1996. It is a conservation unit administered by PROMETA. It has an of approximately 4,778 hectares, of which 2,500 hectares areOf these, 2,500 hectares are under the legal status of Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) backed by Forestry Law 1700; and 2,278 hectares are protected lands.

El Corbalán is located in the third section of the Gran Chaco province of the department of Tarija, which corresponds to the municipality of Villa Montes. The reserve is home to dry forests, pastureland, ravines, and a wealth of biodiversity that is concentrated in the area due to the water that accumulates in the ravines.

Alarachi Natural Reserve

The Alarachi Nature Reserve was created by PROMETA in 2001 and has an approximate area of 6,062 hectares. It is located in the cantons of La Mamora and Emborozú in the municipality of Padcaya, First Section of the Arce Province in the department of Tarija. It is located within the Tariquía - Baritú Ecological Corridor, in the area known as the Bermejo sector, which is part of the interconnection zone between the Tariquía National Flora and Fauna Reserve (Bolivia) and Baritú National Park (Argentina).

The area was created to contribute to the connectivity of the corridor, guaranteeing the protection of natural processes, favoring the maintenance and connectivity between the national protected areas of Tariquía and Baritú, and the mountain forests of the Bolivian-Tucumana formation.
