With the support of the Junta de Castilla y León (Spanish Cooperation) in the framework of the Project: "Promotion of the right to food through support to productive diversification with a focus on climate resilience in highland communities in southern Bolivia" executed by PROMETA with the collaboration of the Concordia y Libertad Foundation (formerly Humanismo y Democracia), seed potatoes of 3 varieties were delivered between October 29 and November 6 in the municipalities of El Puente and Villazón.

The potato varieties delivered are candelero, yana qoullu and pinta boca, certified seed category Registered 1, allowing the seed to be multiplied for 3 more generations, maintaining the quality of production. The Andean potato seed delivered shows greater resilience to inclement weather in relation to conventional Dutch improved varieties, and also has better nutritional and nutritional properties.

The beneficiaries of the delivery of 3.5 tons of seed were 128 families, 63 from the municipality of Villazón in the department of Potosí and 65 from the municipality of El Puente in the department of Tarija.

The delivery was made under the commitment to return the seed delivered, in order to expand the number of beneficiaries for the next management. In addition, the production approach is agroecological, promoting environmentally friendly cultivation, in search of a healthy and nutritious production.

The project has the collaboration of the Secretariat of Productive Development and Environment of GAM Villazon, through ARCO PAPA, and a close relationship with the agricultural engineering career of the UATF - Potosi, Villazon Sub Headquarters and the Production Unit of GAM El Puente.
