This program seeks to position the Sama Reserve as one of the most important natural spaces for the life and development of Tarija.

In a ceremony held at the offices of the Federation of Private Businessmen of Tarija, Cerámica Guadalquivir signed an inter-institutional agreement formalizing its adhesion to the Apoya Sama program, created by the non-governmental organization PROMETA (Protección del Medio Ambiente Tarija), whose objective is to preserve the water sources of the Cordillera de Sama Biological Reserve.

This program is a pioneer in Bolivia, as it is the first effort that seeks to bring together and systematize the contributions of private companies for the benefit of a protected area. Cerámica Guadalquivir is the sixth company to join the program, preceded by SAIV - Casa Real, Bodegas Aranjuez, Bodegas Concepción, Bodegas Kuhlmann, and Doña Vita.

The program is a funding initiative for the Sama Reserve that relies on donations from the private sector. It was finalized on May 10, 2024 at the Los Parrales Hotel in conjunction with the Sama Summit Declaration.

The program is also supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), an international organization that has been collaborating with PROMETA for more than 25 years.

During the event, the general manager of the ceramics company, Óscar Vargas, highlighted the company's social responsibility and emphasized the importance of the Sama Reserve for the region's economy and quality of life. He emphasized that its water sources are not only crucial for agricultural and industrial development, but are also natural spaces where families can enjoy nature.

René Segovia, president of the Federation of Private Businessmen of Tarija, spoke of the importance of the water provided by the Sama Reserve for the economic development of the Central Valley, describing it as an invaluable resource. He emphasized that the quality and quantity of this resource are essential for productive activities and that collaboration between companies and organizations is key to guarantee its sustainability.

The director of the Sama Reserve, Aníbal Alfaro, thanked Cerámica Guadalquivir for its financial contribution, noting that it will help strengthen the equipment and the protection and surveillance actions that the park rangers carry out in the area. He also pointed out that although the State is primarily responsible for protected areas, the protection of water sources is a duty shared by the entire population that benefits from this resource.

PROMETA's executive director, Rodrigo Ayala, warned of the urgent need to act now to protect these water sources. "The supply problems faced today by other cities could become our reality if we continue to use water without care and preservation measures," he warned.
